A little bit of history

From the Archaeological Survey of India Collections, an old studio portrait of five women wearing jewelry. The two girls standing in the back are wearing the jeweled head-dress traditionally worn at south Indian wedding ceremonies or at ‘rites of passage’ ceremonies performed when a girl reaches puberty.
