It’s okay to play with your food.

Simply blown away by these masterpieces from photographer Klaus Enrique Gerdes, inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, the 16th century Italian painter best known for creating portraits of heads made entirely of fruits, vegetables, flowers etc.

Leaving you in awe of the creative forces of human imagination!

Happy Diwali!

Two women in Jaipur hold candles to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Observed over five days throughout India, it marks, among other things, the start of the new business year and the victory of light over darkness.

The Patiala necklace

Made exclusively by Cartier for the Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh in 1928, this bib-like Art Deco necklace features five rows of diamond-encrusted platinum chains and oversized gems. The original necklace had 2,930 diamonds and weighed almost a thousand carats. It included as its centerpiece the famous De Beers diamond, a cushion-cut pale yellow diamond weighing 234.69 carats that is said to be the seventh largest polished diamond in the world and is nearly as big as a golf ball!

The Patiala Necklace

The last time the necklace was seen intact was on his son, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh, in 1941. Over the years, the necklace was dismembered by the family and sold in bits and pieces. However, the original platinum chains and some of the stones surfaced in London in 1998. Cartier bought the remnants and restored the necklace using substitute gems — cubic zirconium to fill in the open settings of the original diamonds and synthetic rubies to replace the original Burmese ones. The necklace now looks like the original to the untrained eye. Cartier says the original would be worth about $20-$30 million today.

Couture Rani

First the name had us at hello, then I found out that this newly launched online boutique carries that oh-so-delicious Gaurav Gupta peacock lehenga I’d shared a few days ago….and then the love fest began!

We all know that from the east coast to the west and in between, there is precious little access to high-end Indian designer fashion. With Couture Rani now, founder Gina Mathew brings an e-commerce site that sells made-to-order bridal and evening wear by India’s top designers. That’s right, you get to order a custom made, individually tailored piece from the comfort of your home!! The requisite pre-wedding India shopping trip now becomes optional!

Here are some goodies from currently showcased designers - Ritu Kumar, Varun Behl and Gaurav Gupta. The site plans to add new designers and additional product lines in the coming months so hop on over and take a looksee!

Travel-inspired 50th birthday celebration {cocktails}

Here’s more eye-candy from the luxurious travel-inspired celebration featured on Pizzazzerie yesterday! In the cocktail area, we styled with a rich color palette and traditional props used at festivals in Kerala. With music inspired by Kenyan beats, lighting patterns from African textiles, passed hors d’oeuvres accented with palm leaves – the energy and ambiance was nothing short of vibrant!
